Pretty Grim
Pretty Grim are a mixed Morris dance side who formed in 1999 and are based just
north of Ipswich in Otley, Suffolk, although they do have members who live as
far away as Wiltshire!
They dance Border Morris, from the borders of England and Wales, an energetic
form of Morris dance, done to a stomping step hop, with loads of violent stick
clashing. Although some of their dances are traditional many are much newer but in the
same style – the most recent, written by members of the team, are being danced out for the
first time this season.
Pretty Grim dance at many events throughout the year including several days of
dance, folk festivals, street fairs and often they join forces with other teams
and dance outside pubs on weeknights during the summer.
