Triangle
Back in 1986, Felixstowe CND members Sophie Watson, Mim MacMahon and Sue Manley
got together to “make some noise” at a local demo, and they have been singing together ever since. They started
off with the standard guitar-whistles-vocals line-up, playing protest songs and
what you might call “pub singalong” material; but as time went on they moved on to find a repetoire and a sound
entirely their own, although they never forgot their political roots.
A debut cassette album, “Journeys”, in 1992 sold reasonably well, but pressure of jobs and life took over and this
appearance at IRFMF 2005 will be Triangle’s first real gig for ten years, although they have often been seen at local folk
sessions in the intervening period.
These days, Triangle’s repetoire is drawn largely from the English and Irish folk traditions and they
sing a capella, making full use of their soprano-alto-tenor vocal range.
