Carys
Carys began singing in 1993 with Stowmarket Operatic and Dramatic Society (aka
SODS) before taking the lead role in the musical “Chess” at the Ipswich Regent in 1996. Her first foray into folk music occurred during
a pub session near Cropredy in 1997, although she still claimed not to like
folk music for another two years after this, having been a lifelong Abba fan.
Because of this, she spent several months in 2000 playing Frida in the tribute
band Abba Gold, an experience cut tragically short when the rest of the band
moved to South Wales and forgot to tell her. Several years with local pop duo
Shades followed, although Carys was becoming increasingly disillusioned with
the mainstream music industry. She now mainly sings solo and unaccompanied,
performing a mix of well-known and totally obscure songs that vaguely sound a
bit folky...
