The Steamboat is located on a man-made, but tidal, cut of the river in an area which, together with the wet dock, is gradually being renovated and renewed.

As it’s a pub venue there are no accommodation facilities at the venue itself, but there are plenty of B&Bs, if you’re coming from outside town.
There’s also a campsite about a ten minutes’ drive away: Orwell Meadows Leisure Park, which caters for caravans and motorhomes as well as tents. You can contact them on 01473 726666 or e-mail recpt@orwellmeadows.co.uk (just remove the BONUS AMPHIBIAN from the e-mail address before sending!).
The Ipswich Tourist Information website has details of places to stay, maps, useful links and lots of information about Ipswich and the surrounding area.
The number 15 bus from the town centre stops within easy walking distance of the pub, and there are taxi ranks in the town centre and at the rail station.
There is a good range of food available at the pub during most of the festival, and of course at other times as well.
